I've had some success using heat to soften the adhesive and peeling them off. Use something like a hairdryer to slowly warm up the decal until you can get an edge up with a fingernail and work your way across the decal. Don't get it too hot! Take your time, the key here is patience. Too much heat and it will scorch, too little and it pulls paint off with it.
