Did you check your wiring against Bob M's 12V conversion diagrams? (search the archives on this board). When I first overhauled my 12V conversion, the alternator was not charging. I discovered loose belts were not spinning the alternator very well. After tightening them up, I discovered the alternator will not start charging until it is running at a certain speed. Running the throttle up "activated" the alternator and once activated, it will keep charging even after you reduce the throttle. (thanks again Bob M)
