Metal tabs also prevent losening during back rotation. The main concern of course is safety. You can see the metal tab being inplace properly, you're never really sure with loctite, can't see anything when it gets dirty. Another very important feature of a metal tab is to prevent over torquing the nut on rotating shafts otherwise you'd either never get the nut off or it will break off under heavy loads by being over tightened.
