You can fix the problem most times with out splitting the tractor, pull the side plate off behind the step and see if the rev. shift fork is broken or there is to much play in the internal linkage , also make sure that you check all the linkage from the shift levers all the way down > Just by replacing the headed pins will make a big differance in free travel. When you remove the side plate you will lose about a gal of High Tran. you can put a coupel of 6 inch blocks under the left tires and you should not lose more then a quart, i think most of the trouble is in the shift fork.
