I work at a power plant and we use alot of Loc-tite. That stuff works good as long as you use the right kind for the job being done. As for lock tabs and lock wire, we have plenty of that in use also. Like someone has already mentioned you can see that it's working and in place. Locking tabs and lock wire is the most secure way to do things, thats why aircraft engines use those methods, also it makes it easier to take apart, just bend down the tab or cut the wire. Loc-tite can sometimes be a pain to get undone and cleaned for re-assembly. My two cents
