1945 farmall h

hi! i have a 1945 farmall h, which resently started smoking and then died on me! i had the magneto checked and was told it was shot no juice.the guy im having rebuild the magneto gave me anoher one to use, but its off a minne moline.i put it on it bolted perfectly but the tractor just wouldnt fire up!should i not go any farther with this till i get the original back? or should this mag work and i have other probleme?
