It sounds like its carb overhaul/cleanup time. If the smoke is white, then its burning oil. If its just a little, and your plugs are'nt fouling, dont worry too much. Maybe try 10W40 oil. If the smoke is black, your carb is running too rich. The amp guage will show more charge the faster the engine runs, until the battery is recharged and then it will drop back to just a little over 0 on the + side. My Super-A does'nt show a charge until I rev it up to excite the alternator and once it starts charging, it will continue to do so even after backing off on the throttle, but the current output is not as much at reduced throttle.
