Lou - I did not build up/grind the wear on the pivot shaft. The wear occurred because someone before me had neglected to replace the spacer on top of the pivot shaft thrust bearing when they put it together. This let the entire weight of the front end ride on the pivot shaft flange instead of on the thrust bearing. That's what caused the gouging wear. Fortunately the wear does cause any problems and it's hidden from view so I simply left it as is. (The good news is the thrust bearing had been riding around for years without any load on it - was in like-new condition when I took it out!) Removing the pivot shaft bushings is not too difficult - just get on the end of the bushing with a good punch and go at 'em with a hammer. The new bushings drove back in nicely using a hardwood scrap for a pusher. Most difficult task was getting the new seal started beheath the gearbox. It's deep in the crotch of the bolster - way beyond finger reach. I had to turn a tool out of an old hickory rake handle to get the seal started it's bore. Good luck and hope this helps! ...Bob M

How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
