Good question Dave. I don't know what really happened here but here is an explanation. F series tractors were natorious for developing stuck valves or sticking valves after left set for awhile especially if outside in the weather. After tractor had set for awhile someone could of turned the engine over, allowing the valves to open and then they stick open. The engine later froze up after the tin can on the exhaust pipe finally rusted through or the head gasket started leaking. This situation could of allowed atleast 3 exhaust valves to be open all the way at the same time and the remaining exhaust valve partially open. Just due to the fact they could of been stuck open.
