W6 Runs again! I think I'm converted!

Hey, I thought I should tell you followers of red power about my W6. I don't usually collect the later series Inters preferring the look of the earlier models and various other makes butI decided to get this W6 that was available cheap as a bit of a "work horse" or "shunt" tractor. It has been sitting outside for many years and when I first noticed it was pretty weathered and seized when I leaned on the handle. Any way when I chocked the clutch in I realised the engine was free and that something was adrift in the gearbox. It turned out that someone had reefed on the gearstick selecting two gears and bending the gate inside. Careful work with a big screwdriver fixed this. The engine had compression on three cylinders and had been liberally oiled by the previous owner since he had thought it was seized. I assumed that it had some carbon stuck on a valve as all seemed to be working when I removed the tappet cover. Anyway I soldered a new base in the small start tank which was rusted out and cleaned the fuel line and carby bowl. New oil and an old maggie I had lying in the cupboard completed her. Anyway, half a gallon of petrol later with a touch on the choke and away she went. At first she had a miss which later turned out to be no clearance on one valve. A little adjustment later she was purring like a kitten!!

I think I'm converted! Don't worry, she'll get a good life now!
