I just did one Saturday on a stalk cutter gearbox. I used the screwdriver to bend a flange out so I could get hold of it with my needle-nose vise grips. There is a seal remover tool available from Snap-On that hooks under the seal flange and a hammer is used to strike the tool, pulling the seal. I don't have one, but got the seal out with no problem. One thing to check for is the numbers on the metal part of the seal. Try not to damage those so the parts man can cross reference it. Even though my seal was obsolete, they had a book with dimensions for that number and found a replacement that way.
