Cub Front Axle Rebuild

Both knuckles on my '51 cub have ~3/16" vertical play in the axle extensions. The knuckle arms mount with a tapered bolt so the excess play can't be adjusted out. I plan to use a 1/8" thick brass washer between the knuckle and the bottom of the axle extension. This will eliminate most of the play and serve as a bushing to reduce further wear. Is there a better way to do it?
Does anyone know what the exact taper is on the Knuckle Arm Set Screw? I was going to replace my broken one at the IH dealer. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a clue what I'm talking about. His microfiche only shows a clamping type of assembly for the knuckle arm.
