57 Years to the Day

I just realized while painting my FAA-107576, that the casting date on the engine is 9-11-N.

This actually translates to Sept. 11th. 1944.

57 Years to the day.

I guess the World was at War then too.
I think then though that people understood what was being fought for, FREEDOM.
Now it makes no sense to me why the USA is being provoked. I'm Canadian, and feel somewhat confused. What is it that these terrorists want?
What is the statement they are trying to make?
