ED: Many years ago when using a tractor it was common for us to mark the various notches as to speed for various belt, PTO and ground speeds needed for the many different applications. The hammer mill(belt) worked best on one notch: The baler on another, etc etc. Fiddleing around with a friction throttle was a waste of time. Now if one is only going to pretend to use a tractor by driving in parades, then either will work. ralph
