If your tran has the double gear on the input shaft up front, with a two-gear slider on the counter shaft (lower), the collar and both gears should slide freely on the lower shaft. Make sure the gears have room to slide (shaft hasn't moved forward toward hydraulic pump). Unless you broke off teeth, you did no damage shifting, I think something failed at the same time you were shifting. Does the fork still exert pressure on the collar? Usually the actuators fail, sheared pin, etc. and the gears stay in their last position. Put the main transmission in neutral and engage the PTO so you can work the lower shaft while you try to move the gears (two man job).
