You would think gasoline would disolve anything but it doesn't. I had good luck tossing in 3 or 4 handfuls of roofing nails and a couple gallons of paint thinner (mineral spirits). Shake and swirl till to your taste. First I hooked my air hose up to the gas outlet and let it blow through the filler hole for a few minutes to try and clear the gas fumes. Worked for me.
