Check the fluid level. The dipstick is likely missing in the old gal, so raise the loader to where it stops, pour in a quart or two, and see if if raises some more. SAE 30 Non-detergent is the fluid of choice here. Taking that pump out of the tractor isn't fun, but once it's out, you can probably overhaul it yourself if you get a manual, use some caution, and keep it clean. If you take the pump out, you'll find a lot of advice in the archives. It's pretty straight-forward, but that thing is HEAVY! Unless you're young, strong, and able to get out of the way quickly, get some help!
