I have a chance to get a free, I believe it is a 340 utility. The catch is the transmission is broke up-I think. A guy in the hunting club I am in has it and has had it for a long time, using it mainly just for occassional bush hogging and pulling out the occasional stuck pickup. He says he thinks the tranny is broke up, but I wonder if maybe just the clutch gave out??? or maybe some bearings??? -I haven't asked what happened yet or what the symtoms are, but I think it would be hard to break up gears just bush hogging. I believe it is a utility, tires are fair, rough paint(if any paint at all), I don't believe it has been parked under decent cover for a long time(just a shed lean to), sheet metal fair, some decals missing. The other catch is that I would have to haul it from NC (where I am at school) back to Maryland, about 350 miles. Not really a big deal though, could borrow dad's GMC 2500(I dont' think my F150 is up to the task)and trailer sometime when I come home for break, then haul it back the next break. The tractor broke last winter and hasn't been attempted to start since. Sorry to be so long, but any suggestions? (Such as parts availability, etc.) Thanks for any pointers or info.
