I don't know what you mean by base pressure...is that the same as blow-by where gas is blowing by the rings??? If the block has to be bored out then it has to be removed (the engine does not have replaceable sleeves like the bigger engines). If the cylinders are not out of round and the pistons have little wear on them but the rings are worn or broken, then a simple ring job could be done. If the valves are burned or bent but the seats are OK, you should be able to replace the valves without removing the block. I've never done it, but I think I remember this from the repair manual. But my memory isn't what it used to be...BB
