Sven - A voltmeter across the battery terminals is a good way to determine whether the battery is being charged. A reading of 12.6 volts or lower means the battery is not being charged. Above about 13.6 volts says it's charging properly. Between 12.6 and 13.6 says the battery is charging, but a a very low rate... The "F" terminal should be marked on the generator frame (it may be marked FLD). Also if the two terminals on the generator are of different size, the SMALLER one will be the "F". Or if you have an accurate ohmmeter, disconnect the wiring at the generator and take resistance readings between each terminal and the generator frame. The F will show several ohms; A (or ARM) will show a dead short (= 0 ohms).
