I don't know where Mike in southern Wisconsin is, but I'm in southeast Wisconsin and today was the official "kick off" of my 1941 H restoration. I got as far as getting all the sheet metal off (didn't mess with the gas tank yet), the steering shaft off, and a liberal application of PB Blaster on the nuts holding the radiator on from underneath. Those darn cotter pins were a bear to get off, and I can't get much leverage with a 9/16 box end wrench, so the PB better melt away my troubles! I'm going to do a frame-off rebuild of the engine and get it done right. The engine isn't stuck, but every gasket on the tractor leaks and needs to be replaced -- especially the rear wheel seals. Aside from the mechanicals, it looks like I'll need to buy a replacement seat, steering wheel, manifold and a whole lotta paint. If there's any money left, I'll do the rear tires -- they're about 60% right now. This is my first one. I bought the H and a '38 F-20 on Labor Day, and I've been saving my pennies for the first trip to the machine shop. Assuming there's any skin left on my knuckles, I'll tackle the F-20 next year. Thanks to everyone for the inspiration, whether they knew it or not. I would never have taken on a project like this one without the resources of this forum. Brett -- A.K.A. "Wisconsin Red" Thanks for all the inspiration from everyone!
