We used to have a 706 that did all our heavy work up until '69. It was a gas engine. We pulled 4 bottom 14 inch plow, 14 ft. Vibra shank and a 14' pull type IH disc. The tractor was rated for more but the equipment Dad had at the time was for 560/656 tractors. The 706 just pulled the stuff a little easier. The 4/14 plow however was enough in the black dirt and clay. The later 706 tractors with the German 310 Diesel had a lot more power than our old gas tractor. We had that tractor until 1982 and the only repairs were an engine overhaul. Torque, transmission and rearend never touched with 6000+ hours. I imagine the 291 gas engine in the late ones had more power also but nothing pulls like a diesel.
