Did you turn the battery around - ground, + hot?
Did you use a Gm alternater?
If you did all that try to take off the wire that is on th big post and hook up a test light to the + side of the battery. Then touch the post on the alternater if the light comes on the alternater is shorting out inside. I have 2 alternaters that are shorting out inside yet it still charges wene it is running.
