Start with the main jet at the bottom, four turns off the seat, then adjust for a little leaner than the first black smoke under load. Teh inside of the exhaust pipe will be white after several hours of operation at the right setting. Adjust the idle speed to an idle you feel comfortable with, then adjust the idle mixture for no miss. Remember it is backwards from an auto carb: screwing the idle mixture in richens the mixture, it is an air bleed screw, not a fuel meter. Then readjust the idle speed and mixture again. Don't worry about the price, just enjoy the tractor. To make you feel good, I've seen them sell for $3500. If you're done feeling good, I paid $300 for one in excellent shape. You only paid too much if you don't enjoy the purchase or you need to resell it quickly for a big profit and can't find a buyer.
