If you have access to a variable voltage DC power supply and an accurate voltmeter, punch below for a basic regulator test procedure. However it's been my experience that if the voltage regulator is at all questionable, or is more than a couple years old best practice is to simply spend $35 and get a new regulator. Also I'd not swap the regulator from the Farmall to the Oliver unless both tractors have the same Delco part number stamped on the generator. Reason is voltage regulators are designed to work with a single model of generator - swapping regulators indiscriminantly risks damage to the generator and other electrical parts.
