Years ago, my Dad was crossing a terrace in the hay field the front of the C hit the terrace and popped like a rifle shot. The front bolster of course broke, but it did not collapse. My Uncle bolted some steel plates on the sides using the cultivator mounting holes and we used it that way for several months. Sure was hard to steer with the steering gear in a bind. We of course put in a new bolster before long. As I recall, the new one was quite a bit heavier than the original.
