Actually, more area in contact with the ground in snow or slick conditions is not what you want. The lessarea and the more pressure per sq. in. the better the traction. That is why chains work so well, they bite in. As for the Cub pushing snow, I have used min forthe last two winters, and it is amazing how much tht little tractor will push. I have a 4-1/2 ft. blade on it, wheel weights, and a box on the back with weight in it,a nd the first year I did not have chains. The only time I had any trouble at all was on pure ice. Otherwise it had good traction. With chains I can almost spin the rear tires. Here is a link to some pictures of it. I have a 8" extension to bolt on top of the blade to keep snow fromcoming over the top .
