I cleaned the threads of mine by taking a short pipe nipple and cutting across the threeads at about 4 places around it, cuts perpendicular to threads. screwed into manifold as far as I could with 18 inch pipe wrench, backed out, cleaned then back in several times. not easy to clean cast threads but it worked on mine. Hard to find 2 inch pipe tap but some plumbers have them.
