Flywheel cracks

I am rebuilding a Farmall MD. I was able to buy rebuilt clutch facing and pressure plate assembly from the local Case IH dealer. When I took a close look at the flywheel I can see many hairline cracks on the clutch face of the flywheel. What are they from and do I have to find another flywheel or can tuning the face fix it. I had a Super C that had this but not as bad. I just sanded the surface on that and put it together with new clutch facings. It seems to work fine.
