I know a lot of guys are saying electrical and they could be right but I'd also ask how is your manifold. I did some plowing with my M a couple of weeks ago and it sounded fine when it was cold. When it warmed up it sounded terrible and it turned out my manifold was loose. Its a cheap inspection to see if it has rusted out somewhere or is just loose.
