I have a Farmall H that was as you pointed out, badly in need of brakes when I bought it. The brake bands were $50 each from my IH dealer (I've read several reports on this forum of problems with non-IH bands). The drums were in good shape on my tractor and so I didn't have them turned. Likewise the seals were not leaking. I understand that this is the most time consuming and difficult part of a complete brake job as the old seals are a bugger to get out. I would guess the seals themselves are not too expensive, but I've not purchased them so I don't know for sure. I guess the thing that suprised me the most was the brake springs. I needed to replace one that was missing and since I was at the IH dealer I ordered it there - $18.00! There has to be a cheaper version out there. The labor needed to remove the seals notwithstanding, the H brakes were relatively easy to work on and adjust.
