I also have a 966 that puts a significant amount of blowby out through the vent tube. It has only 1000 hours on a rebuilt engine and does not burn oil. I think it has more to do with the design of the engine. I suspect there are some cold spots and there is some condensation blowing out with the crankcase fumes. Note that IH changed the vent on the later turbo engines to on top of the valve cover. These don't seem to pass much blowby. My old 1460 combine has 3000 hours on it and there is little blowby from the valve cover vent tube. I don't know if a non turbo engine could be converted. On the surface it is easy, but would there be other problems with converting it to the valve cover vent.
