Also check manifold for tightness. Is there a "whistling" sound when it is warmed up and at idle? If it does, there is a leak in the intake manifold circuit, usually where it joins the head. May need a new gasket. May be a cracked intake manifold, that only opens up when warm. Also as you stated, that the gas drips out of the throttle shaft area, there may be a worn shaft and it will allow air to enter and cause poor starting.
