I can hardly recommend Liquid Wrench highly enough. I really can't recall a stuck part which it ultimately failed to loosen, though you may have to crank the engine in order to lift the stubborn lifters one way and then physically push them down to get them to go the other. They key here is movement. Of one thing I can assure you, use liquid wrench and you will break whatever is holding them free, the rest is only a matter of possibly tapping them GENTLY free.
