C-123 Engine from 1945??

A friend of mine has a backwards-Farmall-Loader that I think is a HoneyBee. (Thanks to those here that helped me figure it out.) Now I'm trying to learn a little more. It has a C-123 engine, s/n 120016, with a 10-3-O casting code (03/10/1945). The trans housing has a 12-5-0 (5/12/1945) casting code. I have a book that says the C-123 engine was first put in Cs and Super Cs in 1951. Could this be a C-123 with castings from 1945?
