Hendrik, I disagree somewhat with your friend. The lights were primarily used to illuminate the tractor's path at night to allow proper guidance and avoid obstacles in it's path. One advantage of the C, H and M light positioning is that the lights will also partially illuminate front mounted implements like cultivators. This serves both purposes. Of course, tractor operating speeds aren't anything near what those of normal road vehicles are, so not as much forward lighting is required (with the possible exception of an H or M in road gear at full speed). I do not believe the sole purpose of the lights on any tractor was the illumination of any implement and the area around it. The only instance I can think of where this would apply is a rear work light. My 2¢, Phil
