You won't need special tools as it is pretty straightforward. If you have a good set of tubing wrenches, they'll be handy for removing the vent tubes from the front and rear of the head. A couple of pointers on disassembly: The oil tube supplying the rocker assembly is a tight fit in the head casting. There are no threads, just wiggle it as you lift straight up. The other is that there is a fitting coming out of the back of the head with a tube leading to the air cleaner. Remove the tube AND the fitting. The head won't come up off of the studs with it in place. One other thing, you won't have to remove the manifold. It can come off with the head and actually gives you something to grab as you lift it up.
