This is all part of how the H got the nickname "Mr. Haney." A while back I wrote saying that I had figured out that the problem wasn't that the temp guage was wrong but that the thermostat was stuck. Never jump to conclusions. I ordered a new thromostat and Saturday drained (caught w/funnel and jugs and pants and shoes) two gallons of antifreeze and lifted the housing. Why (there's that "Why" again) would somebody go to the trouble and expense to rebuild an H's engine and not install a thermostat? Which reminds me - when I checked the air cleaner shortly after I got it I expected to find a nasty little clean-up chore - dusty oil, sludge, that sort. Clean as a whistle; no dirt, no oil, mirror shiney. And I've had too much coffee already this morning. Might rant. Wm
