Not bad, really. ANy lube that may be on a new gear will be for rust preventative purposes only, as the heating will make the fit loose enough that no lube is required. It couldn't hurt domestic relations if you were to take a good dry solvent like brake cleaner to clean the gear off before heating, and even wrap it lightly in foil before putting it in the oven. That way, if you get caught, you can say you were reheating a tortilla.
