there's not much to the carb on a regular. if you look on the top it will say "farmall". it is made out of brass by the ensigne co. for i.h.c. on an origional carb there are no gaskets. the early farmall carbs mounted with two bolts, the later farmall carbs mounted with three bolts (to the manifold). the carb is held together with a bolt that comes up thru the bottom. you need to be careful when taking the bolt out, or you will bust the part that the bolt screws into. there is a drip plate (pear shaped) under the carb that directs the spilled gas (when choked)away from the hot manifold (gourd muffler). there are two jets, the load jet on top and the idle on the bottom. if you can take it apart easily then clean it in an approved parts cleaner (brass dosen't rust)and put it back together---oh yes check the float, if it's cork, have it treated (coated with alcohol resistant tank coating at a radiator shop)then make sure it will float in a coffe can of gas. there is a gasket between the carb and the manifold. when you put it back together, open the idle jet up one turn, and the load jet two turns to start, then adjust like any other carb. it's been a long time since i rebuilt an ensigne carb so double check my notes.

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
