Cary-I inherited an H (the "Gift H")from my father-in-law which he had converted to 12 volts with a Delco-Remy alternator. When I got it the hood was bent out three inches at the bottom. I ended up keeping the D-R by mounting it up as high and close as possible. Doesn't leave much room for belt tightening, but I did get it in so the hood looks right. Of course, I had the torch and wire feed right there for the trial and error method. Used the original gen. bracket plus a couple of pieces of 1" strap. It puts the alternator pulley very close to the radiatior support bracket. Depends on how much you want to spend and how much fun you want to have. Red's method is probably the best.
