On thanksgiving day I again dropped the pan off the Regular and had a look. For a change I pulled the PB blaster out of the cylinders and put in CocaCola. I'd heard that the acidic action might start things up. Of course the biggest problem of the day was that the temp hovered around 40 degrees. On my last trip up I had removed almost all of the end caps so since #s 1 and 4 are pretty much down at the bottom of the stroke we took the 6ton jack and a block of wood and jacked on #1. Then with another block of wood on #3 we put a 2 ton jack on top and wrapped a chain around the frame rails and over the jack and applied pressure until we got worried the chain would break. I figure we probably had nearly 2 tons on because the jack was VERY hard to operate with that pressure on. Then we took another block on top of #2 and beat on it with a 3lb hammer... Nothing. left it over night. Nothing. sigh. Friday when we had to come back I took the cola out and rinsed things with some water. Then I put some PB blaster back in. Of course friday it was nice and sunny and nearly 60....... I'm thinking the next step will involve putting some heat on #2 and 3 pistons to see if we can shake loose some of the rust. Over all it doesn't look good for these pistons and sleeves. On another note I bought myself a valve spring compressor and pulled the valves out of the head. Every intake valve had a nice pile of seeds behind it... Small wonder I had to beat them out with a hammer... The head will have to be hot tanked, its too dirty to even consider being cleaned by hand. The website has pictures taken up through september. There are lots more but they're trapped in my parent's computer. More will follow. Note, if you have a Mac computer you won't be able to see the pictures. I don't have the slightest idea why and I didn't notice it until today... I'm on it though, that won't last...

Talk of the Town: How to Remove a Broken Bolt - by Staff. Another neat discussion from the Tractor Talk Discussion Forum. I've already drilled the center of the bolt out with about 7/64" drill bit the entire length of the bolt. Only one end of the bolt is visible. I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
