A friend of mine bought a 300u with a Shawnee brand front loader that has it's own hydraulic pump driven off the engine crankshaft. Apparently the tractor pump went bad at sometime in the past. The hudraulic lines were cut off and the loader's pump is used to supply pressure to the tractor systems as well. It uses the loader's hydraulic reserve as well as the tractor rearend. It looks pretty cobbled up but it works and the fast hitch works as well. I tried to talk him into getting parts from a salvage tractor to restore the lines and put a rebuilt or new pump on the tractor, but I think he is content with it like it is. I saw two junked 300 utilities sell at an auction- one had a rod out the side of the block but was complete. The other had no sheet metal but the engine block was good, many other parts missing as well- the two together brought $900. There were enough parts to make one good one. One of them had fenders as well.
