I emailed the guy with the green IH and he replied... Dear farmalltodd: No real good reason. The only two I had at the time were that (1) I really liked the green color and John Deere tractors and (2) the IH dealer near us went out of business and the next closest dealer was a John Deere dealer where I could get some generic service supplies (oil, paint, hydraulic cylinder rebuild kits, etc.). At the time, I was not really into preservation. If I were to redo a tractor today (which I am about to do with a 1964 Ford Industrial with a loader) I would preserve original parts and design as much as possible. You could repaint it IH/farmall red if you wanted. Henry A.
