I just finished converting my 1948 Farmall H to 12 volt. After some advice from The Red ( Hallowed be His Name! ) and a little trial & error, I did the following: 1) put a 12 volt voltage regulator on in place of the 6 volt original. The generator apparently doesn't know if its a 12 or 6 volt. 2) changed the light bulbs to 12 volt. 3) Reversed the leads on the stater switch. 4) Reversed the ammeter leads. 5) Polarized the new regulator for - ground. The directions come with the regulator. 6) put a new 12 volt battery in. I originally bought a ballast resistor to put inline for the gages, but a friend that does old cars told me not to worry. After several hours, the gages still work fine.
