M 248 to 264 Engine/Block

Am I understanding Bob, The Dukester, and Dan to mean the when the Supers came out with the 264 engine / block, that if I had a straight M (248) and needed a new block, I could only get the 264 block?? thus making the 264 a 'stock/factory' block on the straight M..... Thanks
