When you cleaned the points and replaced the condenser, you didn't by chance in tightening the wires in there, pull them around to short on the case did you? Can easily happen. Reason I say that is you said you got a shock before installing it. Once installed it becomes grounded, so no more fire, get it? Now then if you want to go a little further, remove the cap, the four screws that hold the black phenolic piece to the top of mag. You will find a tab that sits against the brass button on the coil. Make sure they are nice and clean. Clean up with a finger nail file, so they are nice and shiny. Check coil cap, which it is, for any cracks, if none found replace. That mag if it has a good snap with the impulse should kind of make you stand right on your tippy toes. With it is clamped in a vice by the lower mounting lug, a wire installed in the coil output terminal, and snapped past the impulse, should have a very nice blue spark from the wire held about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the vise.
