On my H the thermostat housing was pretty badly corroded and I had to mangle the old thermostat to get it out. It was stuck open any way, so it was junk. the original style had some sort of wierd tubes sticking up into the upper part of the housing, I haven't a clue what they were for.
The thermostat I replaced it with came from a auto supply store and was the same as a regular auto style only just a bit larger. I didn't keep the part # but "The Red" has it I think. It was inexpensive, about $6.
Have fun it isn't really too hard to change!
