Todd, it appears as though you may have a problem with the followup linkage on your fast hitch. Their should be some linkage that hooks up to the rockshaft on the fast hitch, early had a cable, which should be now changed over to solid linkage setup. That should be on left side of cowl ahead of your feet. you will see it move when you adjust your hitch. If that is loose or binding it will cause the problem you describe. May just need a little freeing up or maybe adjusting. The other problem I will not try to explain because it becomes way to complicated for a layman. It would be related to the safety regulator valve. If you talk to a repairman at an IH dealer, he can explain it. I'am an old IH mechanic as you noticed I didn't mention Case-IH,brrr.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
