Darrell: Many past posts about this. One reason is that after 50 years there can be lots of sludge in lower part of engine coolent passages. Pull radiator again and high pressure flush inner passages as well as ya can. The other first post has good points. Water pumps were extra cost items even on all early C's but many tractors used the thermosyphen system with great results back then. Check the archives 4 more. R.
